Otherside Reveals ‘Bathroom Blitz’ as First Otherside Experience

by Sam Powell

Otherside has announced the upcoming release of Bathroom Blitz, a fast-paced multiplayer shooter set inside the project’s original “BAYC bathroom”. The experience will go live in July and represents the platform’s first persistent, always-on virtual space.

Built by Command Line using Yuga’s own Otherside Development Kit (ODK), Bathroom Blitz allows two teams of players to compete in a stylised environment designed with BAYC references. It also introduces the new Voyager XP system, which will track engagement across the platform, and will serve as a testbed for Otherside’s live service infrastructure.

The announcement comes alongside several other feature rollouts, including upgraded social hubs, asset releases for creators, and additional testing phases planned for August.

Key Insights

  • Bathroom Blitz will be the first experience on Otherside, launching in July
  • The game is an 8v8 multiplayer shooter set in a miniature version of the BAYC bathroom
  • Voyager XP—a system to track player activity and engagement—will also be introduced
  • A new version of the Clubhouse social hub will support up to 500 concurrent users
  • A second persistent experience—Otherside Outbreak—is expected in August

What’s new in Otherside?

The centrepiece of Yuga Labs’ July update is Bathroom Blitz, a third-person, team-based shooter where players enter the environment at a scaled-down size and interact with the BAYC-themed setting using in-game weapons and traversal mechanics. The game will remain online for several weeks as Yuga and the developer gather feedback and monitor system performance.

This experience marks the first real test of persistent gameplay on the Otherside platform—a step toward Yuga Labs’ stated goal of supporting long-term, live virtual spaces. The gameplay will also contribute to a newly introduced progression system, Voyager XP, which will reward users for participating in Otherside content and track overall activity.

Alongside the game, Otherside will release an updated version of its social feature The Clubhouse, rebranded as Meet Me at the Clubhouse. Based on user feedback, capacity has been expanded from 100 to 500 simultaneous users. Deeplink integration will also allow users to stream or join Bubbles (chat environments) via direct URLs.

What else can we expect from the platform?

Whilst Bathroom Blitz is the first of its kind on the platform, Yuga Labs has confirmed that it is just one of several planned experiences. In August, Otherside Outbreak will go live as the second large-scale environment available for extended play. It will serve to test concurrency and infrastructure resilience in preparation for a broader persistent-world launch later this year.

Developers are being given access to nearly 1,000 in-game assets sourced from all 29 Otherdeed biomes, allowing for more varied and thematic creations. Yuga Labs has made clear that the same tools used internally—including the ODK—will be shared with external builders.

In addition, creation tools are being rolled out to Otherdeed holders. These include features for producing stickers, emotes, and custom objects, aimed at supporting participation from users without development backgrounds. All content created through these systems will include built-in royalty support, allowing creators to maintain some control over usage and monetisation.

No specific date has been given for the launch of Bathroom Blitz, but Yuga Labs says more information will be shared in the weeks leading up to the game’s release.
