For millions of Filipinos working abroad, sending money home ahead of the holiday season is an unavoidable ritual. Buying a plane ticket to actually join the family for Christmas, however, often remains the biggest financial hurdle. A new holiday initiative aims to bridge that gap by turning routine digital remittances into a chance to secure free round-trip flights back to the Philippines.
Under a new promotional campaign by GoTyme Bank, overseas workers and their recipients in the Philippines can win round-trip airfare and cash prizes simply by routing their international transfers through a digital bank account. The system eliminates the traditional requirement of visiting physical remittance centers or standing in line for cash pickups, handling both incoming and outgoing cross-border transfers entirely within a mobile app.
How to Qualify for the Flight Raffle
The promotion, titled “It’s Tyme to Be Together,” runs from September 16 to November 30, 2026.
To participate, account holders must opt in through the GoTyme Bank app. Every qualifying international remittance of at least ₱5,000 sent or received directly through the app earns one entry into the raffle draw.
Five grand prize winners will receive round-trip economy flights for two, alongside additional prizes designed for their return home. The flights are provided in partnership with Cebu Pacific, covering key remittance hubs including Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.
In-App International Remittances
The campaign highlights GoTyme Bank’s broader push into cross-border financial services alongside global partners like TapTap Send. The digital bank currently allows users in the Philippines to send money to over 200 countries and territories across eight currencies: USD, JPY, EUR, GBP, SGD, AUD, KRW, and CNY. Exchange rates, transfer fees, estimated arrival times, and the exact payout amount are displayed upfront before confirmation.
For inbound transfers, overseas Filipinos can send funds directly into a GoTyme account using SWIFT (powered by Wise), remittance providers like TapTap Send, or supported Visa networks. Received funds land immediately in the digital account, where they can be saved, spent via debit card, or used for local bill payments without converting to physical cash first.
Digital Banks Target the OFW Remittance Market
Cross-border remittances remain a primary driver of the Philippine economy, with billions of dollars flowing into the country annually. Historically, this market has been dominated by brick-and-mortar remittance agents and physical cash payout networks that charge substantial transfer fees and offer sub-optimal exchange rates.
Digital banks operating in the country are increasingly targeting this space by partnering with international payment rails and regional airlines to lower transaction friction, offer real-time tracking, and run seasonal incentives during peak travel months.
